  • Go to Lists & Segments

  • Create a segment: “Hasn't opened or clicked in last 90 days”

  • Exclude recent buyers from the segment (don’t cut potential repeat customers)

Why this matters:
You want to separate disengaged from dormant. Some can be reactivated, others need to go.

🔁 STEP 2: Run a 3-Email Re-Engagement Sequence

Before you delete unengaged subscribers, give them a final chance to stay.

What to include:

  • Email 1: “Still want to hear from us?”

  • Email 2: Value reminder or favorite product showcase

  • Email 3: “We’re letting go unless we hear from you”

Goal:
If they don’t click or open in these 3 emails, it’s safe to sunset them.

Once the ghosts are gone, time to clean up and save money.

  • Create a Sunset Flow in Klaviyo to remove future unengaged automatically

  • Go to your billing settings and confirm you’ve dropped below your old contact tier

  • Monitor monthly, this isn’t a one-time fix

Compress your email images with tinypng.com, use alt text, and remove excessive gifs, keeps emails light and deliverability high.
