But let’s be real: your customers aren’t “most people.”
They're a mix of night scrollers, weekend shoppers, and mid-morning lurkers.
So here’s how to ditch the generic advice and find what actually works for your brand.
1. Track Real Engagement Times
Pull your Klaviyo data and track:
When people open emails
When they click
When they buy
Then look for patterns.
Are your top customers night owls? Do buyers convert more at lunchtime?
This data is already in your account — you just have to look.
2. Segment by Behavior, Not Just Demographics
Forget sending the same email to everyone.
Create segments like:
🦉 Late-Night Engagers (opens/clicks after 8 PM)
🌞 Morning Buyers (placed orders between 6 AM – 11 AM)
🛍️ Weekend Window Shoppers
Now you can match your send times to their actual behavior, not some blog post.
3. Optimize for Revenue, Not Open Rate
Open rates are nice, but revenue pays the bills.
An email that gets a 30% open rate but barely sells? Waste.
An email with a 15% open rate but converts like crazy? Winner.
Test timing based on sales per send — not vanity metrics.
4. Test, Track, and Double Down
Once you’ve got your behavioral segments, send A/B tests at their “likely” open windows vs. your default send times.
Compare performance not just by opens — but by clicks and conversion.
Double down on what drives revenue, not what looks good on a dashboard.
